 Professor Ayyub is engaged in research activities focused on uncertainty modeling and analysis, systems modeling, decision analysis, homeland security, various defense and infrastructure systems, safety systems, and mathematical modeling using statistics, probability theory, fuzzy sets, and the theory of evidence. He is a fellow of ASCE, ASME, and SNAME; a recipient of the ASNE 'Jimmie' Hamilton Award for the best paper in the Naval Engineers Journal during 1985, 1992, 2000 and 2002; the award for the outstanding research oriented paper in the ASCE Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management in 1987; and the ASCE Edmund Friedman Young Engineer Award for Professional Achievement, 1989; the North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society's K. S. Fu Award for Distinguished Service 1995; the ASCE Walter L. Huber Research Prize, 1997; and several leadership and distinguished service awards. He is the founder and co-chairman of the International Symposia on Uncertainty Modeling and Analysis held in 1990, 1993, 1995, and 2003. Dr. Ayyub is the author and co-author of about 450 publications including many edited books and textbooks.

Dr. Mark Kaminskiy additionally held the following positions: senior engineer at the corporate reliability group of Qualcomm Inc., San Diego, CA, 1998-2000; and reliability analyst at the Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, MI, 1998. He is a researcher and consultant in statistical reliability, life data analysis, and risk analysis of engineering systems with extensive background in parametric and nonparametric distribution estimation, multivariate regression modeling for reliability applications, accelerated life testing, and probabilistic damage modeling. Dr. Kaminskiy is the author and coauthor of many publications, including several books, on reliability and risk analysis.

 

Ibrahim Assakkaf

With extensive expertise in reliability and risk analysis, Dr. Assakkaf has completed several research projects funded by the U. S. Navy and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers on the reliability analysis of ship systems and piping of nuclear power plants. He is a recipient of the ASNE 'Jimmie' Hamilton Award in 2002, and the author and coauthor of many publications on reliability and risk analysis, and ship design.

Andrew Nyakaana Blair, PhD has over 20 years experience in engineering, project management, and change agency. Dr. Blair has led complex projects including Lean Six Sigma deployment and systems engineering execution with Raytheon Company; and business process and change management in Laureate Education Inc. He has taught engineering classes at the University of Maryland and conducts research in risk and uncertainty modeling and analysis authoring over 20 refereed journal papers, technical reports, and conference articles. Dr. Blair holds a PhD in engineering from the University of Maryland, an M.Eng. from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, and a BS in Civil Engineering with Honors from Makerere University. 

 

Additional staff researchers and associates support the activities of the CTSM that include Dr. Siddhartha Lahiri with engineering mechanics and information technology expertise, and Dr. Robert Finkelstein with intelligent systems and decision analysis expertise.
