Webinars and Videos

This seminar explored policy and community response mechanisms to prepare for and address threats to the built environment and local communities as a result of environmental change and extreme weather events. Although rural Alaska communities and the threats from erosion, flooding and permafrost degradation are highlighted, this discussion served to explore a larger question. Are there ways the federal government could better incorporate the science around environmental change and extreme weather events in order to strengthen how communities prepare for, respond to and mitigate the likely damage to the built environment and consequent impact to the quality of life for those in harm’s way?
